A little progress and a tragedy.

The progress:
The moroso gasket came in, and SWEET! Thanks for the tip @Caman96 !
With the gasket in place, the pan just ever so barely touches the filter. Perfect.

Minor issue: The pan comes with M8 x 1.25 bolts with a 15mm length. Just like the stock ones. BUT, the pan rail is thicker from being cast (double thick really, cause the pan holes are reinforced) so when I originally put the pan on, I got 20mm long bolts and they fit pretty good, lengthwise. The addition of the moroso gasket however makes them a little on the short side for my comfort. The plan was to reinstall the trans, then swap out later for longer bolts. Following the tragedy (below) I decided to go ahead and order them and I'll install when I reassemble everything.

Now, the tragedy:
After getting everything back together, I was looking at the torque converter, with an eye to reinstalling it, when I saw these just sitting where I'd left them.

AAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!!!! :jawdrop::frown::flame::flame:

My Transmission Helper Monkey isn't around today, so I'm probably going to re reassemble tommorow or the next day. Went ahead and ordered bolts from McMaster Carr. Pricey, but them boys ship fast!
I didn’t use the bolts that came with mine either, I didn’t even notice whether or not they were too short, I didn’t like the Allen Wrench heads on them. How did you confirm filter just touching pan bottom?

My trans is upside down on a cart. If I put it all together, and set the pan on top, it just barely tips, with a very small gap between pan and gasket/ casing. I doubt you could see it if you were reinstalling underneath the truck with everything right side up.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the allen wrench for pan bolts. I got flange headed bolts. Nice distributed load. And... because it was nearly the same price via McMaster, I went stainless this time.

Just as an update, since Castrol transmission fluid was discussed in this thread, my latest BlackStone Labs report confirms this transmission fluid works perfectly fine for our transmissions. 2 years and no issues. :deal:
