You bought your son a truck ;)
Bingo, we are going to keep it stock, get it running and let him drive it until we get his truck done. This buys me a little time to not have to rush getting his done.

oh, and @fancyTBI, don't be surprised if those running boards show up on your door step.

So I got my son a job for the summer and he needs a way to get to work. We both started looking for an inexpensive car and came across this truck on marketplace.

It’s almost identical to what his truck started as. It’s a 90 RCLB 5.7 with a 5 speed. The guy we got it from, bought it with a blown head gasket. He picked up a motor for it and claims it a GM crate H.O. 350. I’ll dig into it later and find out. He got it put in but never finished it. We are going to pull it out and put the 350 we took out of my son’s truck in it. It’s a complete 5.7 tbi engine out of a friends 94 with less than 100k on it. We pulled it out of his truck back around 2000 when we put a stroker in his truck. It’s complete from air filter to oil pan (with fresh oil) including all the front accessories and exhaust manifolds.

The guy also installed a new flywheel and clutch assembly. It shouldn’t take too much to get it running with the parts we have laying around and then he can drive it for a while.

It’s got the exact same blue interior only with power windows and locks as the 89. It’s really clean, I’ll get some pics posted when I get a chance. The outside is decent as you guys can see in the photos.

I don’t plan on tearing this one down like the other so I was only kidding about starting a new thread. But I have also screwed up better plans than this one before.

We got the garage cleaned up and the trucks moved around. Getting started on the engine swap for the new truck including all new tune-up parts for the ignition, all new fluids, filters, hoses and belt. Put a new water pump on and the 11 blade fan while it was on the stand. I’m sure there will be some other things as we get going.

Here’s a few shots of the interior, I was pretty happy with how clean it is. It needs a few things and a good cleaning, but pretty good shape.

That's an interesting way that they repaired the dreaded broken headlamp switch bracket. After seeing the amount of work you have put into the other truck, I hope you have got a close eye on potential "project creep" with this one. :)
