I’m defiantly going to take a close look at my battery cables I’ve never thought of that before, I am interested in getting a scanner to make life easier do you have any recommendations?
Did you find the problem? I'm experiencing the same thing. Haven't changed connector yet.

Just want to add here, the above procedure in the PDF (post #6) should work assuming the computer & wiring are sound, and there's no vacuum leaks. What gets the pintle all the way out is the motor being at full operating temp. That and unplug the IAC before pulling your ALDL jumper, and shutting the key off. It may take more than one try. With the air cleaner off, and flash light you can look down into the throttle body and see the pintle position. You should see about half of its cone protruding into the throttle body. This won't happen on a cold motor...or a luke warm one... full operating temp. At least that's how my 1994 Blazer behaves. I run a stock 195*F stat. If you run lower temp, I'm unsure if this could cause an issue here.
