Hey y’all, my 94 k1500 is 14 bolt swapped.

And now that it’s also manual swapped, I REALLY need a parking brake. Would also be nice to have in case the truck ever loses brakes and I need to stop the damn thing.

So when the PO swapped to the 14 bolt he cut the parking brake cable all the way up at the side of the frame in the front, so there’s almost no cable at all.

I really don’t know what to look for, I need cables all the way around, from the front of the outside of the truck to the rear wheels for a 6 lug 14 bolt axle.

Any chance someone would be kind enough to compile a list of cables that I’d need for the truck with either links or part numbers?

Thank you so much!

How about just go to piknpul get everything you need. The service manual will have the information on install and adjustments.

That’s true, some of the cables may not even be available anymore.

Hardest part will be finding the right truck for it.

It has to be a long bed single cab, with a 6 lug 14 bolt.

So I’m a total idiot. I just redid my rear brakes and accidentally threw away the parking brake levers for both sides with the old shoes.

Does anyone know if the parking brake lever is the same for a 11” brake and a 13” brake?(6 lug 14 bolt vs 8 lug 14 bolt)

My junkyard doesn’t seem to have any 6 lug 2500s.

Side note, LMCTruck has all the cables I’ll need for the parking brake!

LMC is pretty dependable about that old/odd/adapt stuff.

Yeah seems like it! Also love how they have a diagram for everything. It shows a diagram of the parking brake cables with hardware.(granted most of the hardware they put on there isn’t necessary and some aren’t even on the truck)

Go to any parts-store in America and buy replacement cables. They'll be imperfect, but "good enough" to fit with minor customizing. I had to slice a one-inch section of rubber fuel hose to make a rubber bushing so the right-rear brake cable would fit the bracket at the differential. Big deal.

First set of replacement cables for my '88 K1500 regular-cab, long-bed came from NAPA about twenty-something years ago. Second set came from O'Reillys last summer, along with a set for my '97 K2500 extended-cab long-bed.

Buy cables to fit the truck. The axles are essentially the same in terms of connecting the rear-part of the cable to the brake mechanism.

Depending on what is missing or defective/rusted, you may need the park-brake pedal assembly, the front cable, the cable connector from front to rear cable, the adjuster/equalizer, and the crossover cable to the right rear wheel. All that stuff is available; or at least is was last year. It's also all made in China--at least that's what O'Reillys was selling.

For that matter, you could contact your local Stealership to see if GM is still providing replacements.
