The fella that put the blame on Virginia's motor locking up, at a slow manifold gasket leak I'd say nailed it. I haven't pulled the pan yet but no cylinder scoring. But the valve covers and filler tube are coated in some nasty red scale kinda goop. I've scrubbed the insides with a wire brush and gas, scotch brite and super cleaner till my arms are tired. This stuff couldn't have been good for the bearings. I'm calling clean enough. I was going to leave them black, but with the orange block and heads I had to paint them. Drying after the last bath. Ready for paint soon.

Heads, valve covers, and water pump painted. The last thing to paint is the battery tray, truly the only part of the truck with other than surface rust. And a couple of spots below it.
