Yeah, this is true. I haven’t been around it long enough to figure out if they feed into the engine in the same way or not. What would be the proper way to run a dual tank setup?

I feel like there's more than 1 correct answer to that. The bigger thing at hand is how is yours set up? Or did I miss that in a previous post?

I’ll have to get my hands back on the truck to know for sure so it’s all speculative at the moment.

From my conversation with the seller, it’s a 454 bored .30 over, mild cam, new distributor and wires, new spark plugs, Holley carb (did not get the model), with an aftermarket tach on the dash since the diesel cluster is not hooked in. He said it could run on both tanks, but he used the bed tank most of the time since he could eyeball the fuel needed easier, since the cluster isn’t hooked up.

I am curious what prompted the block swap in the first place and they weren’t the ones to do it.

The 6.5 diesel is a turd and they're not easy to find replacements for. This was likely a cheaper/easier route. Unfortunately for you they took the lazy way out with a carb and your truck is left with very little function. When I did my swap I kept factory injection which meant I kept an engine harness which meant I had wiring going through both sides of the firewall. It was easy to get everything working that way. I'm curious if you at least have a hacked up harness still under the hood? Which we can't know until you get the truck back.

Hmm yeah that looks like something I’ll need to get pictures of as soon as I get it back. If that is still intact, I wonder if it’s a good candidate for a Holley Sniper EFI? American V8s are not my forte so I have a lot to learn here.

From the ad:
1993 chevy 3500

(454)

Bored .30 over

Mild cam

New 750 quadrajet carb

New timing chain and gear

New msd distributor

New spark plugs and wires

all it needs is a now is a new home !

You know, I have a thought now. The 454 in the truck currently is an orange block and valve covers. I'll have to get the serial to confirm, but I wonder if it's not a truck based 454 swap? I mean, anyone can rattle can orange an engine in a swap context, but still it's interesting. Did the GMT400 based 454s come in orange?

Not that I know of. What did the PO advertise the engine as?

More pictures! :)

And a quadrajet isnt a Holley, its a factory carb from GM in the 70s and early 80s. Its a spread bore design with little primaries for part throttle fuel economy then HUGE secondaries for WOT performance. Holley makes a spread-bore carb but its not a real quadrajet. Again, more Pics!!

When I was looking at the engine bay picking it up, the carb definitely had Holley embossed on it. It was shiny too, like this one: https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/carburetors/street/parts/0-80508S
