Took my 89 5.7 OBS Silverado out for a cruise yesterday and noticed the voltage gauge wasn’t working.. Battery tested at 12.46 and with engine running 14.47, That tells me Alternator is good. Was working last time driven. Battery is on trickle charger when sitting in garage so charge is good. Is there a fuse or fusible link for just the voltage gauge. Looking for answers before I go in and replace. Thanks

Any updates? My 90 just started doing this yesterday. Cannot find the service manual.

Had the same thing going on here too, from what I see in the electrical manual there is power from the key on to the gauge, then from the gauge to the back of the alternator. Mine was charging but the gauge was ready very low. When I left the key on overnight and totally flattened the battery, then recharged it the next day, the gauge started reading correctly again so I can't say what caused it to read wrong.
