Trans swap options after 411 swap

I believe the LS/G3 bell housings have the additional bolt hole at 12 o'clock position. Tahoe in 99 would have still been 5.7/OBS So I think that's the right transmission for your project. Maybe let someone else confirm, since I'm no expert.

    14 bolt sway bar mounting

I sent hellwig an email a while ago looking for info on the kits. I have a 14 bolt SF I plan on swapping in. Apparently the kits they sell for the 2500/3500 trucks (Hellwig 7555) have a 3 5/8ths u-bolt.

    Body lift transfer?

Rear end and front dif should be a direct swap yes, but you have the added bonus of the suburban rear end having the sway bar. You can leave it off, or swap that to your truck and enjoy the added handling if you wish. As for the body lift, I'll wait for someone more experienced to chime in.

My AC System won't take Freon (97 Chevy K1500)

Use a paper clip to jumper the connector that goes to the pressure switch on the accumulator and the compressor will kick on. With the compressor working it draws a lot harder.

89 RCLB K1500 - Quality time with my son building his first truck.

What are the things sticking out of the intake valley? They look like compressed air fittings. I'm positive you have a good reason for them, given the attention to all the other details.

    Trackmotive CV joints.

Why is the front dif in the video so dry? Where are the axle seal leaks?

    Confirmed brake bleeding scan tools

As a Canadian who live in a province that doesn't salt our roads (we have WAY less rust than Ontario or Quebec), I couldn't live without it. My 4WAL has definitely saved me from a crash at least once. Even with fully studded hakkapeliitta tires, the icy conditions in my mountainous town are...

    Spring coolant top up

When I lived in Manitoba where it hits -45 once or twice a year, I was driving a Subaru and it needed a maybe 50-100ml top up every year. I always worried my head gaskets were about to go, but they never did. Now I live in the Yukon, and I drive a Yukon, and it hits -50 a handful of times a...

    Confirmed brake bleeding scan tools

FSM should have a pinout that tell you exactly what every pin is used for. That would be the only place I trust for info like that.

    Confirmed brake bleeding scan tools

I'm an idiot. I failed to recognize that "functional test" is a command made by the scanner. I thought it was just making sure your bleed worked. Sorry to anyone I have misled.

    Confirmed brake bleeding scan tools

https://www.motor.com/magazine-summary/nuts-bolts-kelsey-hayes-4wal-june-1998/ Bleeding the BPMV is rather complex on the Kelsey-Hayes 4WAL system. A pressure or vacuum bleeder is preferred over using the brake pedal for this procedure. If the pedal must be used, consider removing the master...

    Confirmed brake bleeding scan tools

Has anyone messed around with the manual and bleed procedure? On the 4WAL there's a pair of 10mms on the side of the module, and the high pressure valves in the front need to be held down (there's a Kent tool # for holddowns) then you can use the bleeder screws on top of the unit. Seems like...

1999 L31 Engine with nearly 260k, Timing chain plus what else?

If you do the timing chain I would count on doing the pan gasket. It always breaks off where it meets the timing cover when that comes off.

Crank relearn and cam retard offset question

I'm not 100%, but I think setting the CMP retard is a function of timing, crank sensor, and cam sensor. If none of those things has changed, I would assume its still ok. Dash command is an ok app to have on hand. With a cheap amazon Bluetooth OBD2 you can check CMP retard at home.

    Building a stroker motor

I like hearing this. The generally accepted limit of the stock spider seemed to be around 400hp. I'm currently working on a 383 with the stock mfpi spider and a very mildly ported stock intake/throttle body. Did you install a larger fuel pump to feed the beast?
