    Header EGR Pipe

Oh, also weld all the way around the tube so there are no leaks, this was just a pic to show a friend how bad it was going for me.

    Header EGR Pipe

I recently modified a pair of headers to include a port for the EGR tube. Removed the original fitting from the stock manifold and used a short piece of tube welded onto a M27 x 2.00 nut to accept the original EGR fitting. My engine is the gen. VI 454, but I believe Schurkey is correct and...

Time to replace stock exhaust on 97 K1500 Z71

I completely agree with you if you can weld, DIY. I’ll add being able to cut tubing reasonably quickly and accurately is very helpful so is being able to stretch a tube for a socket type fit, I used the Lisle tool#17350. The tube stretcher works if you can keep it from rotating, sometimes a...

    7.4 Vortec k2500 Exhaust Manifold/ Header Install

This is excellent advice, and I love my oxy/acetylene torch too.

    Need an over-axle/tail pipe.

Hi folks, I’m looking for a 304 stainless tailpipe 3-4” o.d., but have not had any luck finding anything. I’m near the end of constructing a new exhaust for my 1998 GMC c3500 crew cab, long bed, with the gen. VI 454, and will need a muffler and over axle/tailpipe. As the project stands at the...

    Long tube headers

I’m finishing the install of a pair from JBA. They were not a direct bolt-on affair, I have done some cutting and welding for stuff like oxygen sensor bungs and an EGR port amongst other things, but I knew this was necessary from the start. The part number is 6822s, and I’m putting them on a...

    14 bolt drums

I was thinking similar to you in that new shoes were better on new drums, but the old drums are still around if needed, I haven’t measured them yet. I am now looking for some place willing to turn my drums & hubs true and hopefully balance them afterward. I’m confident that 65 lbs. spinning...

    14 bolt drums

Thank you for your reply. If I can find some American made drums I will buy them, at some point this made in China stuff must stop. This is a 14 bolt from a dual wheel one ton and so far the axles are not installed. I started with the wheel studs, all eight, installed and tight, but then...

    14 bolt drums

This is the 10 1/2” full float dual wheel axle.

    14 bolt drums

Does anyone have advice for quality drums for this? I’ve just put on some new Bendix drums and the run-out is insane, actually visible. I’ve tried adjusting them with a hammer and careful tightening of the studs, but this is not going to get me anywhere close to o.k.

    Cylinder head output shape

I’d check out what Gale Banks might have available. Anyway, a solid set of cast manifolds might be the best option if a turbo is going to be involved.

    Exhaust for 1998 L29

Thank you for your response. It has been my understanding that you are correct, maybe an exception being insane power dragsters which just have as minimal an exhaust as possible. This doesn’t really count for our purposes.

Hey, by the way, that’s an awesome picture you have for your avatar.

    Exhaust for 1998 L29

This is exactly the goal of this project, to create an exhaust which properly scavenges the engine. In order to do this I’m willing to do some fab work and welding, I’m even willing to make a couple pressure wave termination boxes if necessary. I have the luxury of space since this is a rear...
