    Radial Play Specifications

10-bolt axle isn't worth the time, money, effort, or enthusiasm to fix. Find a light-duty K2500 with a 6-lug 9.5" "14-bolt" axle of the correct gear ratio. Scrap your rear axle, refresh the brakes on the 9.5" axle, new gear lube, four U-bolts and a conversion U-joint, and have fun.

    Light sludge in intake valley

Does the engine get fully up to operating temperature? A cold-running engine is more likely to sludge. Make sure the PCV system is working properly. Beyond that, the LAST thing you want to do is to solvent that sludge, and then have the oil pump circulate it through the bearings and lifters...

    The Stupid Axle Questions Thread

I don't know nothin' about 10.5" axles in 2WD. I know that there's so little clearance between the drum backing plate and the leaf springs that two inches less clearance would be unworkable unless the 2WD also have narrower spacing between the leaf spring packs, which would then require...

    1994 k1500 wild misfire

MAP or MAF? I have no idea how you'd clean a MAP sensor. WD-40 is not the right product for that. Aerosol carb cleaner or throttle-body cleaner, would be more reasonable. Up to 50 miles of varied driving--in town, highway, etc., is what I've heard. Potentially longer than that if it...

    Knock Sensore code P0325 in K2500 7.4

Or a wiring problem, or a faulty computer. "I" would like to see the knock sensor signal graphed on a scan tool.

Sway bar link angle and popping noises..etc

The illustration on that page showing Bolts 137 and Nuts 136 does not look like a 4WD stamped-control-arm ball joint. Maybe it's a 2WD control arm and ball joint. The 4WD ball joints are shaped differently. (never mind the broken stud.) And the control arm it mounts-to.

Sway bar link angle and popping noises..etc

Pitman arm isn't secure on the splined output shaft of the steering box. I though it was going to be wiped-out bearings in the box itself. Either the nut isn't torqued, or the male--female splines are damaged. Ball joint really does seem to be loose in the control arm. Not what I expected...

Sway bar link angle and popping noises..etc

IF (big IF) the steering gearbox is securely mounted to the frame (bolts not broken, bolts torqued properly, frame rail not rotted) then the steering gearbox is shot. Lower ball joint is toast. No kidding that truck is scary to drive. You've proven that the front wheels are not controlled...

    Confirmed brake bleeding scan tools

On the EBC4, yes. Doesn't apply to the EBC310. Exactly as specified by GM in the attachment.

...and verify idler arm, Pitman arm, and the tie rod ends that aren't visible in that video. You know the lower control arm bushings are bad. Upper bushing problems are even more common. Get that taken care of as well.

5.7L TBI stalling and low idle help

FIRST, knock the ignition timing back to something reasonable. About 4 BTDC with the connector unplugged. As soon as you plug it in, the computer is going to advance the timing "about" 12 degrees. If you start at 4 degrees, and the computer jacks it up another 12, you've got 16 degrees of...

    Intake stuff

Get a cooling system pressure tester from the loaner-tools program at a local parts store. Pressurize the cooling system overnight, remove all the spark plugs. Look for coolant leaks--puddles on the ground, coolant run-off of engine components. Pull engine oil drain plug, look for coolant...

    Control arm

Perhaps a moderator will move this thread from "ENGINES" and into "Stock Suspensions + Bolt On Kits". Given a choice, I'd rebuild the existing arms with fresh bushings (Polyurethane) and ball joints ESPECIALLY if you have forged arms instead of stamped, or stamped/forged end. The downside to...

    97' Silverado 5.7 ext.cab rwd MAP SENSOR

Connect scan tool, drive vehicle. Watch MAP sensor reading as you vary the throttle. The harder the engine is working, the more pressure it should report, and no dropouts or other suspicious readings. 8.8inHg isn't all that high. Did you clear the code at any point, to see if it would come...

    454/ 4L80 install question

If you're installing the trans with the engine...have the vehicle jacked WAY up so there's room for the trans to hang down as the engine is dropped into place. When it was me, I bought a proper 3-foot long 1/2" drive-to-3/8" drive impact extension. That, and a 3/8" impact swivel socket should...

5.7L TBI stalling and low idle help

Classic symptoms of the rocker arm adjusting nuts being WAY TOO TIGHT. Back off, find zero lash by wiggling the pushrod UP AND DOWN instead of "spinning" it with your fingers. That, or you've got limited-travel lifters. Possible, not likely. What is the initial ignition timing set to? What...

    Confirmed brake bleeding scan tools

WHICH ABS UNIT? The older EBC4 has two manual valves that need to be dicked-with DURING THE SCAN TOOL BLEEDING PROCESS. The later EBC310 does not, but still needs the scan tool. See attachment.

    ABS MODULE

Was it properly bench-bled? Doing a decent job takes more time and effort than most folks realize. Which "brake light" are you talking about? The one in the instrument cluster, or the ones at the back of the vehicle? Which "brake switch" are you talking about? The one on the service brake...

    Front diff need modifier?

There is no "cover" on an IFS front differential. You could play games with aerosol brake cleaner in the fill hole, with the drain plug removed. Or fill with fresh fluid, run it for a few days, and then drain and re-fill.

Sway bar link angle and popping noises..etc

WHAT VEHICLE??? Must be a TBI-era SUV since you're showing external ABS speed sensors. CV axles, installed with the bigass nut properly torqued, cannot cause 6--12 movement at the wheel. If it's not the bearings, it's the ball joints, REALLY wiped control arm bushings, or it's loose lug-nuts...

Passenger Side Head Water Port Problem

Seems like you ran the tap in too deep. For the record, you'd have done better by heating the plug (not the casting around the plug) until it glowed. (Oxy-Acetylene--Propane without extra O2 isn't hot enough) Let it cool, it would likely screw right out. Remember, you'll HAVE to use the...
