89 RCLB K1500 - Quality time with my son building his first truck.

Well it’s been almost two weeks, but we got back to work today for a few hours. We got the final cleaning done on the block and sprayed it down with wd. Then we chased all the threads and installed the freeze plugs and most of the oil galley plugs. I have to pick up a couple more tomorrow. Next...

    Sourcing 2wd rear lift blocks

805 is one of my favorites. I’m heading down to Napa in a couple of days thought it might work out, it might be more to ship them than they are worth, but we can check. I won’t be able to check until I get back back in a week. They are brand new from Rough Country, we went with a shackle and...

89 RCLB K1500 - Quality time with my son building his first truck.

I got the heads all finished this weekend. I know enough about porting heads, to know that I would probably hurt flow if I tried anything fancy. So I just cleaned up the ports and chambers by blending in any sharp edges that would affect the flow. I also opened up the intake ports so that they...

Once I get all of the ports done I’m going to blend those ridges in the combustion chambers also.

I worked on blending the ridges that the machining left right below the valve seats. On the exhaust I used a carbide burr bit and an 80 grit roll cartridge. On the intake just the 80 grit. Only spent about an hour on it and got a pretty good start. I’m struggling to get any good pictures of what...

    EBL-flash and 4L60E control?

I will let you know if I remember anything else. I used it for a couple of years before I sold it to a friend who is still driving it.

    EBL-flash and 4L60E control?

I did this a while back on my 94. I used the factory pcm and an EBL flash. With instructions from Bob, I re-pinned some of the wires to new connectors for the EBL and had it done in a few hours. I don’t remember all the details as it was about ten years ago, but I remember that it wasn’t that...
